Back Log (Since Summers Dead)

Since this summer is DEAD in terms of game releases I thought I would start playing some games I missed on initial release. Also some games I have just kept playing for trophy/achievement reasons.

Mirrors Edge

I always wanted to play this game because of its unique perspective but I never thought it would be worth the full retail price. So when I was it was now 30 bucks at my GameStop I picked it up. For those that don’t know Mirrors Edge is a first person, free running/action game.

You play as Faith this girl who is part of a group that is going against the “man”. People hire them to deliver information for unknown reasons. But that part of the back-story plays absolutely no role in the story other than “this is why I can run so well”. The main story mode was fun accept for the parts where you are forced to fight enemies.

The game really shines when you are picking up momentum by running fast, jumping building to building and finding awesome ways to get through the levels. My favourite part of the game is the Time Trial mode which just puts you in a part of the story levels and you have to get from checkpoint to checkpoint as fast as you can. Look forward to a review later on.

Street Fighter 4

I picked on Street Fighter 4 on the cheap and it was possibly the worst and the greatest purchase I ever made. I played a lot of 3D fighters like Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive but I was not prepared for the technicality needed to play this game. This game caused me to smash a controller in my early days of playing but by investing some time it has become really fun to play rather than the Ken Flowchart technique. Once you get the handle of how to play this game it is really rewarding when you learn a character and you just smoke a scrub which you once were.

The online has some weird things going on like being able to change the rounds and the timer length in ranked matches but all the matches are very stable. I don’t think I am going to review this one because I don’t know enough about fighting games to make a well critiqued review. Though all the craziness at EVO 2K9 that went down earlier made me want to purchase an arcade stick.

Prototype

I have still been playing prototype but this is basically just for trophies since I am only two trophies away from my second platinum. Those two are the kill 50,000 dudes one and get Platinum rank on all side missions. After those I think I am going to retire that game until I need my next gore fix but by that time Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will have come out and I’ll be good with that.

Some Old PS2 Stuff

I bought three new PS2 games. They are Bully, Resident Evil 4, and Rumble Rose. I have yet to play Bully because my disk is too messed up to play it on my PS3 so I am going to go down to my local Blockbuster and get that cleaned up. I started playing Resident Evil 4 but the controls are so weird since I played Resident Evil 5 so much. It is going to take a while to get used to but I will eventually get through it.

Lastly is Rumble Rose. I don’t know why I bought this game, well I didn’t buy it but I forced my friend to buy it for me because I got his girlfriend from a bus station but it was totally worth it. This game is just funny to play. Scantily clad women wrestling in some all female wrestling league with terrible voice acting and stories that a 16 year old with a dirty mind probably came up with. In short the game is great. I would suggest that you pick it up just for some laughs also it’s a fun party game to bring out because people are usually baffled by it.

Well that has what I have been playing lately. Also have been getting back into anime but thats not videogames. *Cough* go watch Battle Programmer Shirase *Cough*.
